Creatives with Codi Lynn is a podcast that was started to help encourage & inspire women in both their personal and business life.
“Collaboration is the essence of life. The wind, bees, and flowers work together, to spread pollen. Mindfulness gives us the opportunity to work with the cosmic collaboration.” – Amit Ray, Mindfulness: Living in the Moment
In general I would call myself a competitive person, I like to feel like there is a challenge and something worth putting in the extra effort for. I think that this quality is a great quality, however I totally agree with the saying of “collaboration over competition.” As I started teaming up with more brands and bloggers I realized that yes, I was still a competitive person but it wasn’t for me to succeed, I was striving to work together to make something brilliant as a team.
I believe that a healthy competition paired up with a group of like-minded people can make the greatest impact. Recently, I was asked to join in on a photoshoot styled and organized by Genicca Whitney. Genicca sent me an email describing her vision and I was so delighted to be included, I trusted in her vision and planned for the photoshoot. I have hosted a few similar collaborations myself and it was a fun experience to be invited into the vision that Genicca had formed with a number of other amazing brands // listed below.
Why Collaborate
One of the most important things to keep in mind about joining in on a collaboration is to keep an open mind. Everything that happens isn’t going to be the way that you see it to happen, be set up, or even executed, but if you keep an open mind it allows you to enjoy the process. During the photoshoot myself, Genicca, Angela of KEWE Clothing and Kaylyn of McLachlan Studios, put in a team effort to finalize the setup, keep the collaborative items within the photographs, and the kids somewhat under control. The biggest impact I felt was how calm everyone stayed knowing that we had come to this point, and from here it was time to have fun!
When raising my children I want it to be second nature for them to help out those around them and to strive to grow themselves while growing others. I feel with this attitude they will accomplish such amazing things.
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” – Helen Keller
