At the beginning of the summer I was struggling to find functional healthy snacks for the kids that were easy to grab on the way out the door. With summer coming to a close and school right around the corner, I wanted to share some snacks I discovered that were super easy, convenient and totally worth it… and hey, they just might be the perfect addition to your child’s lunch pack at school too!
Love Child Organics Pat-A-Cakes: I love the size of these and how perfect they are for both my daughter (2), my son (6)… and for us adults too! We all share the bag and it is the perfect snack to tie us over at the beach, on a walk or even in the car. My daughter loves the size of the bag and loved holding onto the bag and casually enjoying her snack (see above photo).
Love Child Organics Fruit Bar: This bar is the best option for healthy snack bars I have found yet. I met Leah at #makersmarketvan earlier in the summer and she gave me a few bars for my daughter to try out. We got hooked! Although these bars price point is a bit higher than other bars on the shelf, you are getting what you pay for. This high-quality organic product will not disappoint. We really REALLY like this product, it feels good knowing that your child is getting good food in a convenient way.
Bolthouse Farms Mini Carrot Packs: A friend of mine who works for Bolthouse Farms introduced me to this product earlier in the year. I loved chatting with her about Bolthouse products and hearing about the passion she has for the company. She stands behind all of their products. Their packaged mini carrots are made up in snack pack sizes that are perfect for my son. He can open them up on his own and has something healthy in the perfect size just for him. He wasn’t into eating raw carrots before we had these snack pack sizes in our house and it was great to see him enjoying a healthy snack.
Fresh Fruit: Cutting up fruit does take a little extra planning, but it ends up being totally worth it. There were a couple times this summer where I would buy a cantaloupe and cut it up right when I got home from the grocery store. This made it super easy to pack up some pieces and put in the snack bag during a rush out the door. I am planning to continue this throughout the school year and try to keep fresh cut up fruit on hand more often.
Water: When we are headed out the door we always try to make sure that we have a bottle of water for both of the kids. This is so important and essential for their little growing bodies.
