Recently I have been in touch with Shannon from Pecan Tree Creations and have been able to learn so much about her and the small business that she owns. Shannon’s adorable shop on Etsy sells wonderfully designed passport holders, card holders, wallets, and much more. All of the items in Shannon’s shop are very professionally handmade with stylish high quality fabrics.
I have had a few items custom made by Shannon and I absolutely adore them. One of my favourite items is my family sized passport holder, it is absolutely perfect. I love the concept of the family passport holder, before we used to have our passports held separately during travel and it stressed me out. Having a specified placement for them during our travels, that is stylish and affordable, takes one more little stressor away. Shannon also custom made me a pencil case, I am currently in school for graphic design and have been in need of a pencil case that is durable and also stylish. I have been very pleased with the quality and design from both of these items and am so excited to share more about Shannon and the Pecan Tree Creations brand with you today.
Shannon resides in the Fraser Valley and is a loving wife and mother to one girl and one boy. It has always been Shannon’s dream to own a business and be an entrepreneur. It wasn’t until after having her daughter that Shannon started to explore the opportunity of starting her own business. When her daughter was six months old Shannon felt she had the perfect opportunity to open her Etsy shop. Shannon said, “I knew that it would take quite awhile to start up a business and get it to the point of being able to actually withdraw from it as an extra income source so I felt like I had the perfect opportunity. I am sure many other new moms have felt the same way!”
When Shannon first started her Etsy shop she originally started to sell purses, card holders and wallets. After a few months of opening she introduced her passport holders, which very quickly became her best selling item. Shannon focuses on selling her smaller items as she enjoys working on these items the most and they are also her best selling items. “My biggest satisfaction comes from creating something that is of the highest quality with precision stitching,” said Shannon. The variety of items that Pecan Tree Creations has in store creates a perfect balance for Shannon as she enjoys creating different products throughout the day.
Every product in Pecan Tree Creation’s shop is designed and sewn by Shannon. “Close friends and family members of mine have commented asking me if I buy the products I sell! I take that as a compliment and know that means they are made very professionally. I exclusively use the highest quality quilting cotton to produce only the best products,” said Shannon. It is such a pleasure to hear about the hard work and energy that Shannon puts in to each item, though it is no surprise, Shannon’s background in business has allowed her to be successful.
“One of the greatest parts about being an entrepreneur is being able to choose which items to make. I get to focus all of my energy on what makes me happy!” explained Shannon. Shannon truly puts her whole heart into her business and cares so much about her products. Shannon wants to make sure that each item is perfect before leaving her store and that it will fully meet the needs of her customers. I experienced this first hand when ordering from Shannon. Through asking various questions to determine my needs, Shannon made suggestions that would help me select which product would be best, and then continued to encourage and communicate with me actively throughout the whole process. Her customer service is beyond pleasant.
Shannon has very much been enjoyed seeing her little business grow thus far. Shannon currently has Pecan Tree Creations sold at Brick and Mortar Living and the Maple Ridge Art Gallery Gift Shop, though Shannon would love to add more wholesale accounts to her business profile. Shannon has really appreciated the support that she receives from her customers, taking their requests and then transforming them into great new products. Some of these products have even ended up being added to her product line!
