Since our most recent trip I can’t help but think of where our family might travel to next. Even on our last day in Hawaii I said to my husband, “What’s next on your list?” It is no secret that I love to travel, and this year I have made it a goal to get out more all together as a family to explore areas both near and somewhat far. Here are five North American Family Destinations (on the West Coast) that are on my list to visit this year.
5 North American Family Destinations on our 2017 Travel Bucket List
5. Vancouver Island
Two years ago we went to visit family just out of Nanaimo on Protection Island, it was so dreamy and peaceful. I would love to head back there again as well as take the kids to downtown Victoria to do all things touristy.
4. Prince George
Because sometimes it’s not the place you want to visit but the people. We have friends in Prince George that we plan to go visit and cannot wait to take the trip up there in the Spring. We try to make it a yearly trip to see them but with having Evelyn last year, this trip didn’t happen. 2017 we got this.
3. Seattle
We have taken a number of trips to Seattle in the past, but we didn’t get a chance to make it last year. This might be a great idea for our five year anniversary as we went to Seattle to celebrate our first anniversary. Watching a Mariners game would be up on our list of things to do there too!
2. San Fransisco
If we can make number five happen and if we drive there then San Fransisco is going to be on the list of places to take a pit stop. When I was in Grade One we drove to Disneyland and also stopped in San Fransisco, I would love to relive that childhood trip with my kids.

1. Disneyland!
Now this is something that I am still convincing my husband on, but I think that this year would be the perfect year to take the kids to Disneyland, yes Evelyn might be a little young but Ezra is the perfect age. If we wait for Evelyn to be older, that could work, but I don’t want Ezra to miss out on the magic of Disney at the age he is now.
When we go (positive thinking here) we will stay at the Country Inn and Suites that is in walking distance to Disneyland, Anaheim. The brand new hotel is modern and stylish with some major key features that have me excited to stay there.
- Spacious rooms with spa inspired bathrooms
- Complimentary hot breakfast
- Wi-fi Included
- Large outdoor patio with pool
- Unforgettable view of Disneyland’s fireworks
What is on your list of North American Family Destinations for 2017?? I would love to hear.

With four kids, I now look for hotels that have family suites. I traveled a couple times in the summer and having a separate room (and three beds) just made it so much easier to get everyone to sleep. My girls also LOVE having a pool in the hotel. And we were big fans of the hotel that offered breakfast too – it just makes the morning so much easier if we don’t have to look for breakfast.
